Obituary of Bill Matheson

Everett William "Bill" Matheson, of Munroe Ave. Ext., passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Bill was born January 30, 1942, in Westville, the son of the late Donald and Ivy (MacKenzie) Matheson, Union Centre.

He grew up in Gairloch and attended the one room school in Rocklin. He worked at Trenton Works for over 35 years as an electrician in welder repair. After his retirement, he pursued his passion for rebuilding old cars and attending antique car shows with Snookie. Bill was an avid old car guy and was known to many as "The Old Hot Rodder". There wasn’t a car he didn’t know or couldn’t fix. If he couldn’t find the part, he would make it himself.

He is survived by his wife Anna "Snookie" Hirtle; daughter, Lynn (Jeff Harrop), Dartmouth; son Brad Matheson, Alma Road; sisters, Helyn (Jim) Davis, Old Halifax Road; Donna (Peter) MacLean, Durham; paternal aunt Shirley Spencer, Ottawa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A grave side service will be held at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Gairloch on Wednesday August 29 at 1:15 pm with Bonnie Langille officiating, followed by a reception at the Millbrook Community Hall from 2-4 p.m. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care, thanking nurses of the 4th floor, Medicine and Palliative Care.
