Obituary of Richard Louis Cyr

Richard Louis Cyr, 82 of Westville passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his daughter by his side.

Richard was born in Westville on September 20, 1936, he was a son of the late John and Tena (Oldford) Cyr.

Dad spent his earlier years in Montreal where he met his beautiful bride (my Mom) and they returned to Westville to raise me & be near family. My dad worked various jobs till his retirement from Sears Canada, Stellarton.

Dad was a loving & supportive father, he was both devoted to & loved his role as Papa to his treasured grandchildren. Dad thoroughly enjoyed time with his father, brothers, cousins & nephews fishing, hunting, playing cards & just being together. Dad adored his sisters, always personally remembered their birthdays, he never left a conversation without saying “I love you” to any of us within the family, he truly loved each of us unconditionally, he was the best role model any daughter could ask for.

Richard will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Bernice; daughter Nancy Walsh,  grandchildren Kyle and Carmen Walsh, Westville, son-n-law Michael Walsh, sisters, Mildred Power, Westville; Sheila MacLaren (Diane Rushton), Tanner Hill; Karen (Harvey) Cormier, Braeshore; brothers, Doug (Marilyn), Westville; Ralph (Molly), Salem, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his sister, Catherine “Kay” Hendsbee and infant sister, Nancy.

His family received visitors on Wednesday, October 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service was held on Thursday, October 4 at 11am from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial was in the Holy Name Cemetery.
