On behalf of our family I would like to thank friends and family for all the amazing support we have received over this difficult time from the visits to the funeral home, to those who attended Dad’s funeral, the online expressions of condolences, the beautiful flowers and generous donations. Family and Friends were held in the highest esteem of my father; I know he would be looking down with a smile of appreciation. We hold onto the precious memories and keep him in our hearts forever.

The weather in north and central New Brunswick, sadly, has prevented our plans to attend Ian’s funeral. It is with a heavy heart that we write this message of condolence. Hearing of Ian’s passing and our inability to bereave properly with you leaves us with only this option to express our grief. We hope you understand that our snow storm has prevented our safe arrival for his funeral and the celebration of his life.
I met Ian and Lou when Betty and I bought a home next to them on the corner of Todd and Lindsay Avenue in Riverview, New Brunswick. John (Ian) Macdonald and I met when I first moved in. Betty Jobe, RN. was an instructor in the nursery before and during the first part of our marriage and lived across from Moncton Hospital while I lived in the house next to Ian and Lou until we were married in the summer of 1967.
I had introduced myself to Ian in their front yard one evening after I arrived home from work. We were admiring his roses at the front steps on Todd Street. My attention was drawn to a ragged piece of metal imbedded in the concrete near where the iron railing was attached to the front steps. We discussed the danger of the situation with the lack of workmanship and I suggested I would bring home from work a heavy duty grinder to cut it off and smooth out the concrete. We were close friends ever since.
Lou was pregnant with John Junior during our initial time in Riverview, and Betty was honored to deliver Johnny to Lou in the nursery for his first feeding. (All 12 pounds of him)!!!
We hunted and fished together for many years and enjoyed watching each other’s family grow and develop. John Junior eventually grew into a fine hunter and fisherman alongside our son and we enjoyed many expeditions to hunt and fish in Trafalgar, NS. Bambury and Judy babysat our younger children in the early years. And the families played cards and entertained together often.
We extend our sympathy to Lou and all the family members and friends who knew and loved this fine member of our community

So sorry to hear about your loss. Ian and Lou were an important part of my early childhood and were asked to be my God parents as very close family friends. I have many memories of Ian. My fondest memory is he always picked me fresh radish from his garden as he knew they were my favourite.

So saddened Lou to read of Ian's passing, and want to send our deepest sympathy to you, Bambury, Judy and John. Ian was a good friend, and such a great help to me during my early years with C.N. I regret not being able to attend his service tomorrow due to poor health and mobility, but will be thinking of you all for sure.
With much love, Max and Norma.

So sorry to all of the MacDonald family. Uncle Ian was truly a great man someone I always looked up to and have many fond memories of. Know he has touched many lives with his humor and he will forever live on to those that knew him. Wish we could get there to be with all during this hard time. Sending Love and Many hugs from Alberta. I truly wish I could do more as I know how you must all be feeling right now. Uncle Ian and Dad will be up in heaven enjoying a good drink and a game of Cribbage. Lots of love from the Cushing-Ogden family.
