Obituary of Charles MacLeod
Charles “Charlie” Warren MacLeod, age 67, of Westville, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at his home.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Charles “CF” and Gertie (Fogarty) MacLeod, of Westville.
Charlie was first a family man who devoted most of his energy toward taking care of all the people he loved. The rest of his energy was used to make them laugh. He had a great sense of humor with a quick wit and a joke for everyone. Charlie was a man who was not afraid to try new things. He had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed hockey and attended Crusher games regularly. He appreciated his grandchildren & could be found in attendance at their extracurricular activities. He tried his hand at guitar, the spoons, the air trumpet, massage therapy, yard work, karate, tai chi, camping, fishing, hunting, 10k runner, singing, dancing, story-teller, and too many other activities to name. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton. A past member of the Westville Legion, Michelin MERT team, Ground Search & Rescue, St. John Ambulance the list goes on. He loved family his cat his yard and his shed.
He was an employee of Michelin Tire for over 30 years when he retired. Later he worked at the Visitor Information Centre, Pictou & presently was employed seasonally by Dept of Lands & Forests - Caribou Park.
He will be dearly and forever missed by many many friends but mostly by his wife Sandra (Freeman); children Amy (James Peters), Linacy; Julie (Campbell) Young (Harlan), Alma; Chris Campbell (Angie), Union Centre; grandchildren, Cassidy, Zach, Gemma, and Caden; Jessica (Darius), Maddie, and Masha Drachova (Belarus) Chace and Callie. He is also survived by sisters Vivian MacLeod (Vaughan), Darlene MacLeod, BC; and sisters-in-law Mary Best (Carl), Pat Bennett, and Judy Jack coined by him as “the Freeman Girls” and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters Shirley Gauley and Frances MacPherson and brother-in-law Clarence Freeman.
Charlie rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. His funeral service was held 1 o’clock Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial was in the Auburn Cemetery.
