Obituary of Alice Baillie

Alice Constance Baillie, 94, of Westville, formerly of River John, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on Saturday, April 24, 2010 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Pictou, February 2, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Johnstone and Clara (Bean) Brownrigg, of Plainfield. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Westville, and a member of the A.M.S. and Bessie Munro Unit. Alice was a member of the Westville Heritage Group and the Heritage Bowling League. She enjoyed quilting with her church group, card parties, gardening, church suppers, talking on the phone, and traveling. In her free time, she knit, crocheted, and made quilts for the family. We all remember her yummy gingersnaps. She will be sadly missed by daughter Hilda MacLellan (Gordon), Pictou; sons, Ervin Baillie (Evelyn), Lyons Brook, and Gary Baillie, Sarnia, Ont.; 11 grandchildren, Dan Baillie and Sandra Howitt; Eldora LeBlanc, Fern Baillie, Ashley Baillie, and Barbara Smith; Connie Johnson and Denise Martin; Jamie Baillie, Ian Baillie, and Lisa Chevalier; and 14 great grandchildren, who referred to her affectionately as GG. She was predeceased by her husband John William Baillie; son John Walter Baillie; sisters, Freda Langille, Hilda DeCerbo, Edith Kelich, and Margaret Jeffers; brothers, Harold, Herbert and Robert Brownrigg; two infant brothers; and daughter in law, Bonnie Baillie. Visitations will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Westville. Burial will be in West Branch Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
