Obituary of Wayne MacDonald

The death of Wayne MacDonald, age 66, of Westville, occurred unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at his home.

Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Lillian (Duggan) MacDonald.

Wayne had a great love and compassion for his family and friends. His number one priority was keeping them safe. He was know to many as "Big Wayne" with a big heart.

He will be lovingly but sadly missed by his wife of 49 years Rosalind (Hayman); sons, Lawrence, Wayne Jr. and daughter Jody Cameron (Mark), Westville; grandchildren, Chris, Jessica, Stellarton and Matt and Landon at home; Kate Cameron (Matt), Enfield, and Madison Cameron at home. He is also survived by his best buddies Rick and Gordina Stewart and family from PEI; chosen brother Johnny Tye; brothers Paddy Duggan (Isabel), Jack Duggan (Dot); sister Florence "Sis" Marshall (Albert); many nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law Jerry Hayman (Marsha), Bill Hayman(Diane), and Dave Hayman (Shelia); sisters-in-law, Beverly Hayman, Isabelle Routledge, Betty Stewart and Marie Rayos(Wilkie) and their families.

Besides his parents he had been predeceased by an infant son David Wayne; brothers Cyril Duggan and a lot of good friends.

His other passion was card playing (poker) and playing his guitars. He loved to end his day with a melody of songs, "Got to keep the strings working" he would say. Hockey was another passion, "Toronto Maple Leafs will win one of these years". We always knew when they scored! Yesss! and a big clap. Many a hockey pool he won! Loved going on long country drives, watching westerns, esp. John Wayne. He knew where every store was in Westville and would drive up the Main Street pointing them out and who owned them. For his family left behind to mourn, he will always be with us, but for his friends that are in the Glory of Heaven, now watch out, here comes Big Wayne so get the cards ready!

His family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service will be held 2 o'clock Monday from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville. Spring interment will be in the Holy Name Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made for the children to the Westville Recreation Commission.
