Obituary of Blanche Slivocka

Blanche Theresa Slivocka, 77 , Truro formerly of New Glasgow and Westville passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010 after a brief illness surrounded by her family in Colchester Regional Hospital. Born in Westville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyne (Boudreau) Hubert. Blanche was dedicated to her family, committed to her Catholic faith, proud of her Acadian heritage and maintained her family ties with Les Ilse de le Madeleine. She was a past member of Sir Frederick Banting Chapter, I.O.D.E. A loyal friend, Blanche was known for her sense of humour and story telling. She enjoyed spend time at her family cottage and enjoyed creating hand made gifts for her family. Blanche was employed with the Department of Agriculture in Debert prior to her marriage. After raising her family, Blanche became a dedicated care giver to her parents. Blanche will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons: Jeff(Joan), Milwaukee Wisconsin; Randy(Marie),New Glasgow; Mark (Janet), Truro; and daughter Christena, Windsor, Ont.; and by 4 grand children Christopher; Connor; Natasha; and Gregory. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond "Ray Slivocka", an infant grand daughter Anna, and an infant brother, Arnold. Visitations will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday from The Church of The Holy Name, Westville. Burial will be in the Holy Name Cemetery, Westville. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Palliative Care of Colchester Regional Hospital, or the Holy Name Cemetery Fund.
