Obituary of Jean Louise Ross
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our mother, Jean Ross of Union Centre, Pictou County which occurred in the Shiretown Nursing Home on August 6, 2019.
Jean was born in Boston, Mass, the daughter of the late Mary (Balfour) and Edmund Tolson.
Jean graduated from Business College before marrying and having children. She and her husband Alvin built and ran Ross’s Service Station in Union Centre for over 24 years.
She was a long term member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Westville, where she taught Sunday school for several years.
Jean is survived by daughters, Judy(David), Susan, Shirley, Willena (Leslie), Jeannie(Francis) and several grandchildren; Mary, Janet, Fred, Nathan, Angus, Kate and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister, Virginia Miller, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Alvin Ross; her daughter, Jennie and sister, Mary Elizabeth Boudreau; brothers, George, Charles and Jimmy Tolson.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Shiretown Nursing Home for the loving care and attention given to our mother over the past two years. We would also like to thank the VON home care staff for the wonderful care given to Jean prior to moving into Shiretown
Jean rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, with visiting on Friday, August 9 from 7-9 pm. Her funeral took place on Saturday, August 10 at 2 pm from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating. Burial was in the Union Centre Cemetery, Gray Rd. Donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to a charity of your choice.
