Obituary of Margaret Dorie

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Margaret May (Pitts) Dorie of Shiretown Nursing Home, announce her peaceful passing on Saturday August 15,2020. Born on April 2, 1936 in Charlos Cove, Guys. Co., she was the daughter of Lillian (DeLong) and John Pitts. Mom will always be remembered as an exceptional cook and homemaker; skills she proudly passed on to her girls. She had a fun and adventurous spirit and no one in a room laughed longer or harder than Mom. She loved gardening, curling, camping, card games, road trips and travel; all of which she enjoyed with Dad. Mom delighted in the accomplishments of her girls and her true joy was spending time with her grand and great grand children. She was totally thrilled when our family all gathered to sing, play music and share a meal. When we’d leave for home, we’d hear, “Love Y’as All!” She was patient, loving and accepting of everyone. Mom was a long-standing member of CWL and her faith was her stronghold. She left us a beautiful legacy. Mom will be sadly missed by her daughters, Jean Ann (Charlie Bowron), Stellarton; Sharon (Roy Doggett), New Glasgow; Mary (Rusty MacDonald), New Glasgow; Sheila, Bible Hill; Bobbi (Rick Fraser), Abercrombie; Wendy (Trevor MacPherson), Calgary; Sisters Lorainne Rossong (Ralph), Antigonish; Theresa Richard, Clementsport, Brother-in-law, Charlie Dorie, Pictou; Grandchildren, Amanda (Greg Thompson), Janine (Rob Young), Evan (Maureen Doggett), Shayna, Ian, Brayden, Courtney, Ryan; Great-Grandchildren, Hudson, Loic, Mairi, Piper, Amelia, Noah, Isaac, Nevaeh and Daxton as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Bob; daughter, Audrey; grandson, Daniel; son-in-law, John Currie; two sisters and four brothers. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. MacLachlan, staff and residents of Shiretown Nursing Home where she resided for the past six years and considered you her extended family. We know Mom would also want us to thank her Monday night card buddy, Rolie Babinec, as well as Wanda MacNeill, for all the times she styled Mom’s hair. Thank you everyone! Mom would want you to know, “Love Y’as All!” Due to COVID-19, visitation and mass is restricted to immediate family members. Donations in Mom’s memory may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation or SPCA.
