Obituary of Sidney "Sid" Hale

The family is sad to announce the passing of Sid Hale, age 86, of Westville, on February 2, 2021 at this home.

Born on May 17, 1934, he was a son of the late Harry and Stella (Hodgson) Hale.

He is survived by his children, Scott, Frank (Marion), Bruce (Janet), Wendy Bourque (Kim), and Tim; grandchildren, Melissa Hale (Jeremy Henderson), Sara Hale (Marcus MacLean), Jennifer Bourque (Jason Ju), Beth Bourque (CraigTutty), Shannon Bourque (Jason Garland), Lindsay Fanning (Scott), Nathan Hale; great grandchildren, Avery, Cameron, Andrew and Elliot; Olivia and Evyn; Emilia and Kobe; Brody and Ella; and Mylie and Connor. He is also survived by brother Jim Hale (Mary) and many nieces and nephews.

Dad was a character, he loved to entertain and loved to talk and be the center of attention. He dressed as Santa for many years, driving around the sleigh with the firemen. He also dressed as Elvis, and with his side kick Billy. Sid played baseball with the North Street gang "Westville Miners" and he was known throughout for his hockey, even went to Nashville to play. He loved the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. He enjoyed music festivals and camping in Country Harbour. He always had a story to tell and a song to sing.

He was predeceased by wife Sylvia (Chabassol) in 2004; brother Harry Hale; sisters Betty Sutherland and Mary MacDonald.

With his friend Linda Brine (Kenneth, Tracey and Alex, Susan and Gerard Kennedy and David and Yolanda) taking care of him along with the V.O.N., Dad was able to stay at home for his final days.

A private funeral service will be held (invitation only) at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville and will be streamed to the public at 2 o’clock Sunday.
