Obituary of Frances "Lou" MacDonald
The death of Frances Lurita “Lou” MacDonald (Cushing) age 87 of Foxbrook, formerly of Riverview, NB, occurred on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Arborstone Enhanced Care Halifax.
Born in Bridgewater, NS was the daughter of the late Israel Cushing and Frances (Oxner) Cushing.
Lou was an avid member of many organizations over her life time including Rebekah Lodge # 11, Bridgewater, member of the Woman’s Missionary Society Atlantic division, served as president of NB, member of the Foxbrook Women’s Institute, Elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Hopewell, NS and Bethel Presbyterian Church Riverview, NB, held various offices in the Pictou Presbyterial and in her own Auxiliary. Lou’s other interests included bowling, camping and baking.
Most of all she was a devoted wife, loving mother and special nanny/great-nanny. Frances “Lou” is survived by daughters, Bambury Pristanki (Bill), Judy MacDonald (Garnett Wilson); son, John (Donna) MacDonald; grandchildren Stephen, Sara, Bryce, Matthew, John Julian, Kassandra and David; and great-grandchildren. Lou is resting in Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visitation on Wednesday from 6-8 pm.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, John “Ian” MacDonald and brothers David and Robert Cushing.
Lou is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Wednesday from 6-8 pm. Her funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell on Thursday at 2 pm with Rev. Bonnie Langille officiating. (Masks are requested to be worn at visitation and funeral.) Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell or a charity of your choice.
