It is hard to put into words what Bobby meant to me growing up. We met as children because our families knew each other, and we had reconnected in high school. Going down memory lane brought back times of fun and laughter in the mudroom of our high school. We went to an adult dance at the high school and danced the polka. It amazed me how well Bobby could take me around the dance floor.
Once I was sunbathing at the river and the next thing I knew, Bobby was standing by me. He had scared me, and I was wondering where he had come from. He told me he had just walked the river fishing. We had a good laugh. Bobby would come down to the farm to go swimming and ride the ponies as well.
We had lost contact through the years but that is normal as our lives take different paths. Again, out of the blue we met up again in Halifax when he was working at the apartment building. We had a great time catching up with what was going on in our lives. You are always in my heart. Thank you for the laughter and fun!

Since they were no obituary published on his behalf many of Robert's friends only found out thru word of mouth that he passed. Robert worked for 25 years for Sobeys and his kindness made him a special friend to whom he met along the way. This is a big lost to LGBTQ!!!! community in Dartmouth and Halifax as he was well known to contribute his talents to their activities. His last desire was to be able to participate at his niece wedding. Robert you are missed already. His favorite fur babies Oprah and Dixie are welcoming you with open arms.

I am so very sorry to read of your loss. I didn't know Bobby or any of the family for that matter, but I just wanted to tell you that your obituary of his life was one of the best I've read, and he sounds like he was such a fun, caring and loving child and man. The way you told 'his story' was heartfelt and also funny and let the people who knew him nod their heads in agreement, and those of us who didn't know him, wish we did. Your little bit about liking to think he could play cribbage and calling on his (deceased) uncle really resonated with me, as my granddaughter (who is now almost 14) plays games with me when she's here, whether it is Sorry or Crazy 8's or canasta, and since she was a little girl she used to call on her deceased cousin (who was stillborn before my granddaughter was even born) for help from above "Come on, Lilly, help me!" Nice to know she isn't the only one who does that! Anyway, thank you for remembering Bobby in the way you did - my pet peeve is seeing an obituary that just lists who they left behind, who passed before them, and sometimes jobs and nothing about their actual lives. You did a wonderful job of sharing 'the dash' between his birth and passing away.
