A finer gentleman I've yet to meet !!! Hector was a proud & loyal Pictonian ; especially dedicating his time , talent & wisdom to the greater Saltsprings area. Full of laughter , adventure on his snowmobile (tried to take me to visit the Hermit at Gully Lake even ) ; and fiddle music of course. He was a great strength to me in my political days as MLA for Pictou West -- I will never forget his many kindnesses. Your father , grandfather & great-grandfather was a man to be immensely proud of. I'm sure you'll give him a great "sendoff" . Regret that I can't attend. My sincerest sympathy to you all.

To Hectors Family…
I was saddened to hear of your Dads passing, such a wonderful long life & wonderful man.
Im sorry I don’t know your family but knew your Mom & Dad well having enjoyed lots of musical parties at my parents home…Nellie & Buck MacLean.
I did get in to Vets a few times to visit him.
When I would see your Dad out & about he would always say..”Come here ‘till I give you a big hug, you remind me so much of Nellie”.
My sincerest sympathy to you all from the bottom of my heart.
Precious memories.

MacKenzie family would like to thank Hector for his military service. He was a wonderful man with a great sense of humour. I always remember the time he went home from the Watervale dance wearing my sports jacket. We had a good laugh over that one!
Glad I had the pleasure of knowing Hector. God bless.

Hector MacKenzie was always a gentleman, a kind soul and a truly "human" being. From the time I was a little boy I saw in him how a good man would conduct himself. He treated everyone with civility and honor and kindness. He made us feel better in his presence. He was a loving family man, and his reward was the love of his family and the grace of God that bestowed to him a long and happy life.
John MacInnis, my sister Rena and my family offer our gratitude to have known him and our sympathy at this time of loss.

To the family of Hector :
So sorry to hear of your loss. Hector was a wonderful gentleman and great landlord, fiddle player and had a great sense if humor. When I first joined the PCOTF he told me to stand by him and he would show me how to fake it! Lol. I would play " Hector the Hero" for him when he moved down to the Vets Wing! He will be missed. Wishing you all peace and comfort strength and love at this very difficult time!
