Obituary of Ann Liebscher

Elizabeth Ann Liebscher passed away at home on November 26 at the age of 61 after a short battle with cancer.

Ann was born in Summerside PEI on July 5, 1962 to Margaret Ann (Campbell) Henderson of Stellarton, NS, and George Blois “Bill” Henderson of Charlottetown, PEI.

She joined the Canadian Armed Forces shortly after high school, eventually becoming a Heavy Equipment Operator (MSE Op). It was while stationed at CFB Holberg, B.C., in the spring of 1987 she caught the eye of Wilf Liebscher, a Westerner whom she married and lured to the Maritimes.  They eventually settled in Cowan Park, Westville, where they became cherished members of the community.

Ann adored needlecrafts, gardening, and cooking, and generously shared the beautiful fruits of her talents with her family and neighbours. (She was much less generous to her opponents in Scrabble and other word games at which she excelled.)  She was a talented artist, a devoted servant to her cats, and a die-hard Trekkie.

She had astonishing grit.  Ann faced the discomfort and setbacks of her cancer treatment without complaint, remaining positive to the end and expressing only gratitude for the care she received.  Like her Star Trek heroes, she too did boldly go.

Ann leaves her beloved husband, Wilf, children Jennifer Richard-Tober (Jeff), Michael Richard (Georgina), and Toni Liebscher (Grant), grandchildren Serena, Alexis, Casey, and Matilda, her mother, Margaret Ann, sister, Rachelle, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in Nova Scotia and PEI.

She was predeceased by her father, Bill Henderson.

The family is grateful to the staff at the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit, Halifax Cancer Center, and her other healthcare providers. A special thanks for the heartfelt generosity and support of her friends and neighbors.
