Condolences to the McCunn family from the family of Kathleen McKay Fraser. Carl was much loved by my grandmother as was the whole family who were “good neighbours” the most important quality in life! We would love to hear from Mickie, known to Kay as “Ethel” and greatly loved. Marjorie is in Halifax as am I. Much love to you all. Beth Wood (only granddaughter of Will and Kathleen Fraser) (bethinbrazil@gmail.com)

I had the opportunity to meet Carl many years ago when we were both establishing our businesses as independent accountants. I enjoyed our talks about the challenges and successes of our profession. Carl was dedicated to his staff and clients and served them well. Our friendship grew through our membership in the City Club where we could share some stories after a day's work. Carl's sincerity & wit will be missed by many. My condolences.

To: Bob, Mickie, Jeanie and Carl’s children and grandchildren
I have known Carl most of my adult life. In the early years, Carl was our bookkeeper for about 30 years. Many the night, we would burn the midnight oil in the little back office of the old appliance store trying to find a way to avoid paying the taxman, before the deadline. Carl was good at that stuff because he once worked for them and knew all the tricks.
In more recent years, it was all about helping Salem. Salem was special to Carl, even though it does not technically exist (officially Green Hill). He lived there almost his whole life. We worked closely together fighting for water and sewer services for Salem to allow his home community to grow and prosper. He almost made it to see the water working and was fighting tenaciously to get sewer extended to Salem. Even to the point of hiring a person, on his own dime, to make a video by drone to send to all levels of politicians to show the potential of Salem. If someday it all happens, Carl will have played a huge part in it.
In my last visit with Carl in the hospital, his mind was still churning out ideas on how to convince the ‘powers that be’ that Salem has a bright future. It still does, but, unfortunately without Carl.
Carl’s beautiful home (I always told Colleen that it was Salem’s White House when all the lampposts went up) was right opposite the old Salem ball field. For many years, he as well as others, kept the ball field mowed, mostly for the use of NRHS students for their grad party. He was a big supporter of the recent re-organization of the old ballfield to a recreational field for all ages and abilities. ‘One more plus for Salem,’ would be Carl’s thinking.
RIP, good friend, you will be missed,
Bob and Colleen Parker

So saddened to hear of Carl’s passing . Such a friendly , pleasant , and knowledgeable person who was a friend to so many. On a business and professional level he was top notch and a great source of wisdom , but he really excelled as a friend and curling teammate ! Myself and my father often commented that there was not a better person to have on your team !!

To all of Carl's family and friends,
I had the ultimate pleasure of being Carl's hairdresser for many years. When I first met Carl, he was very shy. He'd come into the shop (which was in most part filled with women)always looking down and you could tell he just wanted to get in and out as fast as he could. But as we developed a rapport so did his comfort level in the shop.I got to see just how saucy( just as I am) quick witted, intelligent, private, practical, humble,
hard working ,caring, and of a good heart! We shared many stories, ideas political views and many laughs(includinghow his dog Chuck got his name.I would aways text him as a reminder of his appointment the day before( it worked awesome...once he learned how to use the "GD"thing...his words lol) Ironically enough he has an appointment this week which he actually remembered and had his sweet cousin Jean cancel for him .Carl my friend, I will not be erasing you out of my schedule book you will remain there always as nobody can replace you! Rest in eternal peace my friend. You will be missed!
With heartfelt condolences
Barb Young
