Obituary of Leo Fahey

LeoThomas Fahey, age 93 years, of Stellarton, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born in 1924, in New Waterford, he was a son of the late John and Sadie Fahey.

In 1947, Leo, Lillian and family arrived in Pictou County and in the ensuing years operated Leo’s Pool Room, a "home away from home for many Pictou County Kids."

"Dad shared his belief in the fundamentals of hockey, baseball, track and field, and rugby. His passion and knowledge of these sports was limitless, as was his passion and knowledge of how to live this life. We are grateful to have had such a loving and supportive father. He gave to us and to everyone he encountered was the most precious gift a person can give "his time". We are so thankful for those who supported his numerous sports endeavors. It brought him so much joy as he watched you reach your potential. In later years, what extended his extraordinary life was his beloved Twilight Ladies Hockey and Softball Leagues. Beyond all of his sports achievements, Dad was a kind, gentle, caring, and intensively competitive man. One thing that was most prevalent was that Dad always had your back in sports and life. Dad had the honour of being inducted into numerous Sports Halls of Fame. He now undoubtedly ascends to the most important one of all "The Heaven Hall of Fame". Dad did it his way, the Leo Fahey Way."

He will be dearly missed by his sons, Trevor (Jeayn) ; Gus (Lynn); daughters, Lee and Alanna; his grandchildren, TA, Drew, Natalie, Christopher, Alexander, Stephanie, Ben, Sadie, Sawyer, and great grandson Sebastian.

He was predeceased by his beautiful wife Lillian; sons Derek and Leo; sisters, Jenny (Charlie) and Aggie; brother John; and special friend Edie Works.

His family wishes to thank his neighbours, his friends, as well as the V.O.N., the nurses of the fifth floor, and Dr. Soliman for their excellent and compassionate care.

His family will receive visitors Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Leo’s funeral service will be held 11 o’clock Saturday from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville with Father Bernie MacAdam officiating. Interment will be in the Auburn Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the S.P.C.A.
